Based at Orton, in the Cumbrian Countryside, Littlejohn Oak produces
beautiful hand crafted solid oak furniture to meet individual needs. Whether
your taste is traditional or modern, each piece is built to your own specifications
to ensure it fits perfectly within your home. |
 |
|
Previous work has included styles such as Charles Rennie Macintosh and
Shaker as well many unusual pieces created from personal inspiration. All
design work and scale drawings are included in the service to ensure you
are fully satisfied prior to assembly that the furniture meets your needs. |
| Although specialising in Oak, commissions are regularly undertaken in
other woods such as Maple, Cherry and Ash. Any hardwood can be chosen to
compliment your home. |
|
Each piece of furniture is oiled and waxed by hand to give a natural,
but resistant finish that enhances the grain and colouring. Darkening of
certain timbers, such as Oak, can be achieved by fumigation as opposed
to staining, to ensure the beauty of the wood is not disguised by heavy
colorant. |
| Traditional construction techniques are undertaken such as dovetailing,
mortise and tenon joints; a sign of quality and strength that provide additional
features to enhance your finished piece of furniture. |
